| The “Project Staying Alive” prostate cancer awareness program is a joint effort of Project Uplift and the Decatur Chapter of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc. The Project’s goal is to provide information on prostate cancer through presentations and distribution of literature to residents of Metropolitan Atlanta. In addition to providing information the Project also endeavors to offer free prostate cancer screenings.
Since its inception in 2001 Project Uplift has offered more than 100 screenings through the “Project Staying Alive” Initiative and has reached thousands through sponsorship of the following:
● Three Prostate Cancer Awareness Seminars that offered on-site screenings in addition to lectures and literature on prostate cancer.
● Two to three prostate cancer information sessions per year at malls and other high traffic locations with video presentations and literature on prostate cancer.
● A Walk/Run to promote prostate cancer awareness.
● A voucher program to provide prostate cancer screenings.
Annual Blood Drives
As part of its Health Awareness Initiative, Project Uplift has collected several hundred pints of blood for the local Red Cross during annual blood drives over the last five years.
